María, a Spanish physician, works in a Maternity Hospital in the Ecuadorian rainforest. She investigates unintended pregnancies. María interviews two women whose health and safety have been put at risk due to unfair health care policies. The secrecy and social taboos that surround these issues create an unsafe environment for women.
Xiana Yago was born in 1984 in Spain and studied medicine in Barcelona. In 2009 she moved to Berlin, where she worked as assistant director in the zero budget film scene. After her masters, she led a screenwriting workshop for young people in Germany. Since 2012, she has lived in Ecuador, where she filmed Las Mujeres Deciden.
