An authoritarian regime plans to restore white supremacy in Brazil. Their first act is to demand the return of all white Brazilian citizens living abroad. In the midst of this political chaos, Tai needs to prove that she is not white, but is faced with uncertainty about her own racial identity. The film delves into the ambiguous concept of race in Brazil, exploring the traces left by its colonial past and the family history of the director. An exploratory journey between fiction and documentary.

DIRECTOR’S BIOGRAPHY

Tai Linhares

Tai Linhares is a Brazilian filmmaker and photographer living in Germany. Her first short, Loom (2014), tells the story of workers from Rio de Janeiro's periphery who were persecuted, arrested and tortured during the Brazilian military dictatorship. In photography, she's interested in a documentary realism as well as more abstract imagery, using long exposure techniques to capture light and movement. In addition, she has a Masters in communication (UFRJ), studied documentary film at the filmArche in Berlin, and currently devotes herself to the study of digital media in the bachelor programme Media Informatics at the Free University in Berlin.
