synopsis

At the end of her life, Lyla is forced to confront a wounded memory that inflicts both pain and illusion of fondness whilst listening to her favorite song. She explores why she selectively forgot the life-changing moment; the wounds of a toxic relationship threaded in her mind tangled with intimacy, remorse, and self-blame.

DIRECTOR’S BIOGRAPHY

Yuki (Yimeng Yuan) is a female director who hails from Wuhan, China, and bases in Los Angeles. In 2019, she graduated from UCLA with an Art History B.A. as a first-generation and steered towards filmmaking ever after. Her narrative work seeks clandestine self-deconstructive criticism. Growing up humble makes her particularly drawn to stories that explore the complexity and duality of identity, morality, and of human nature.
