director’s biography

Kenya Márquez. Film director, producer and scriptwriter. She studied Communications and screenwriting. After directing short films and a feature documentary, all of which participated in dozens of international film festivals and won several awards, in 2011 she produced, wrote and directed her her debut feature “Fecha de caducidad”, which became the most awarded Mexican film of 2012. Between 2002 and 2005, she was Director of the Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG) and later on collaborated as programmer for national and international festivals, including the Guadalajara International Film Festival, the Vancouver Latin American Film Festival and the Durango Mexican Film Festival. She directed and participated in the creation of the TV Azteca’s series “Bajo el Alma” and she also collaborated on the script of Televisa’s series “La isla de Clippertón”. Beside her work as filmmaker, she also currently works as a professor at the Audiovisual Arts BA program of the University of Guadalajara (UdeG).

synopsis

After getting out of jail where she learned how to take care of the sick, Alma, an albino woman, decides to recover something much more important  than her own freedom. In order to do so, Alma is forced to take care of Clemente (a hypochondriac with an OCD to avoid a sudden death) at night. The relationship between them will transit from suspicion and fear to tenderness and love.
